A college student who was to fly home to Malaysia next week was found dead at the base of Abram's Falls at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Nublan Zaki Norhadi, who was 20 years old, was with a group of about 30 college students from Penn State. This was not school-sponsored, but a trip planned to the Smokies by the students themselves, said Bob Miller, Smokies public information officer.

They arrived at the Abram's Falls Trailhead at 5:30 p.m. Sunday and got to the falls at 6:20 p.m.

Miller said it is unclear whether Norhadi was wading on the series of steps and was swept away to the base of the falls or if the jumped in and was swimming and them swept away by the strong current. Thanks to recent rains, the water at the falls was higher than usual, which made the current even stronger.

"Two of his buddies attempted to rescue Norhadi, but were also being swept away and had to be pulled out by other buddies," Miller said.

Swimming is not banned at the falls but there is a sign warning of the strong current and hazards at the falls, he added.

"It would have taken a strong swimmer to get out of the current and the other students said Norhadi was not a strong swimmer," Miller said.

Abrams Falls is located 2.5 miles up the trail that starts off a stub road in Cades Cove that is located to the right just before the Cable Mill.

The body was found at 1:30 p.m. Monday 30 feet down by the Blount Special Operations Response Team (BSORT) divers, Miller said. They arrived at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the falls. Three pack mules were used to carry in their equipment.

The park does not have a dive team. The man had been reported missing at 7 p.m. Sunday.

In April 2004 a 14-year-old from Vine Middle School in Knoxville drowned under the same falls.

Bikinis and blunders

As much as I hate Adam Lambert, frankly speaking I think he deserves to be crowned the next American Idol. He deserves it 77.777%. I am judging this based on their much anticipated performance yesterday.

But the darkest horse of all emerged as the champion, Kris Allen. The judges did not give their standing ovation like the one given to Adam last time, and even Kris Allen was still in the state of denial when the result was announced. Too humble I guess.

After all the two of them are the best competitors we have had so far compared to David Archuleta and David Cook of last season.

I honestly think America's Danny Gokey fans, who possibly defected to Kris's side after Gokey left and effectively bridged that million-vote gap between Adam and Kris.

But don't you think Adam is the most overrated Idol of all time?

What was your favourite moment on the American Idol finale?
a) Kris Allen winning
b) Kara surprising Bikini Girl
c) Security taking away Tatiana
d) Queen with the finalists?

Open Letter to Ku Li

Ku Li,

It is time for you to quit UMNO and join PR.
That will show that you are really sincere to the people of Malaysia.
Leave the UMNO and their cronies with Corrupted Najib.

I don't think that Najib at all will agree for the SNAP election.
In the short period the people of Malaysia already hate because of his dirty tricks lead Perak in the mess.
I believe he is the person who plot the downfall of PR government in Perak.

Leave him alone, Ku Li you come out of the dirty UMNO.
Many will follow you and join PR.

On the lighter note, she was buried as a Muslim today, regarding my previous post.

Reader Discretion is Advised. It Contains Issues of Religion

Mum told me just now about her UiTM friend, if I'm not mistaken her name is Elaini who's mother just passed away yesterday. Elaini currently doing her PhD in New Zealand and she has a home at condominium Section 9, Shah Alam. Mum couldn't go for Elaini's mother's burial. This story was told by mum's friends and I was told by her moments ago.

Elaini's mother is a chinese converted muslim when she married to Elaini's father. She's a Sabahan if I'm not mistaken. She fell sick 2 months ago and Elaini brought her mother to live at Section 9 while she's studying in NZ to take care of her. So, Elaini's husband with her son/daughter take care of her mother here.

Anyway, Elaini's father divorced her mother when Elaini was younger. Elaini has a brother.

This morning, my mum's friends visited them at Section 9. Yang tolong mandikan jenazah husband dia and anak dia. Jenazah siap dimandikan dan dikapankan.

Pagi tu, I think a relative of them from Sabah, he's a Christian came to their home all the way from Sabah. He wanted to take the jenazah with him and buried as a Christian.

And that guy and the family members had a really massive argument. Really, Elaini's friends were hopeless and they couldn't do anything because is was a family issue.

Anyway, her mother is a muslim and I do not know whether her mother practised as a Muslim.

Wallahuallam.

And that relative from Sabah wanted her to bury as a Christian and he even called MAS Kargo to pick the jenazah this very day.

I do know how's the issues resolved but if I'm not mistaken again, Elaini's brother managed to come to an agreement with elaini's husband and relative from Sabah that their mother will be buried as a muslim in Sabah not at Shah Alam.

Aku tak tau macam mana nak cerita, I guess I lost many points there but MAS Kargo arrived at that place with a coffin. The coffin was carried by 2 Indians and the very sad part was when Elaini's mother was put into the coffin by them, and it was nailed and to be sent off to Sabah this very day.

And when they had the argument with the relative from Sabah, the family members contacted the JAIS and JAIS was helpless. Diorang tanya lah macam mana nak settle this problem and the JAIS fellow said if her mother's IC card stated Islam and she should buried as Islam. Of course Elaini's family wants her mother to be buried as a Muslim but what about the siblings of Elaini's mother who claimed that she's not a Muslim anymore? And diorang call banyak kali lagi and JAIS was helpless and they just ignore the phone call.

When mummy told me this, memang sedih lah, bulu roma sume naik .. Normally I listen to this in news but when I am facing this in front of my eyes, tak terkate weyh. As a Muslim, I'm very saddend by this.

Tonight Elaini will retun to KLIA from NZ and straight to Sabah.

Al-fatihah.

Sudden Realisation

I feel quite ashamed of what I'm writing, nothing concern anything about Islam. Well, maybe a little. I wish I could write something to remind myself, my friends and the community at large about how we go about with our life, a reminder to us not to forget the Almighty and pray 5 times a day.

I didn't know my uncle has a blog too, yes my very own uncle, Ustaz Abdul Halim Abdullah. I'm really very proud of him.
